MLM Prospecting Tips
In a recent webinar we spoke about the art of prospecting and some things to consider when prospecting for your MLM business. Some of what we discussed is when prospecting you need to make the conversation about your prospect and not make the conversation about you or your MLM product. You need to get to know and understand your prospect in order to develop the proper relationship with them . In the MLM industry people typically don’t just join a company, people join people who they feel can help them solve a problem. Someone will join you in your MLM business for their reasons and not yours. And remember MLM sponsoring is a numbers game just like any sales related activity. In this case you are selling yourself and so the more prospects you speak to the more people you will sponsor into your MLM business.
Here are some MLM prospect tips for sponsoring more people into your MLM Business.
The first thing one needs to realize is that your need to generate more traffic and/or get more traffic
into your sales funnel. This can be anything from getting more people to your blog, meeting more people while networking or on social media or by purchasing leads. You need to have a steady flow of traffic and prospect flowing into your sales funnel. Anytime someone has given you their name and phone number will qualify as a lead . The next step in the process is to be able to qualify your leads. The better you are at qualifying your leads the better you will be at enrolling them into your businesses.
Here are a few questions that you may want to answer to get a deeper understanding into sponsoring more people into your MLM business.
- Why is mastering the prospect conversations important to you?
- What is it going to give you?
- What are you willing to do to make it happen?
- How many people are you willing to talk to enhance your skill set at prospecting and recruiting into your MLM business?
- Are you willing to practice and record your script so that you sound smooth and relaxed when you are talking to a prospect?
You really need to know your script and what you will be talking about almost to a point where it is an unconscious thing and the conversation just flows. You can keep your script with you but make sure you are working to eliminate it a so you are speaking naturally. This natural approach in conversation will assist you and your prospect to develop a good rapport and start developing trust.
Also know the common objection and how to address them. Ask your upline for help with the common objections and be prepared to address them when they come up in the conversation with your prospect.
Here is a very powerful phrases you can use while on the phone communicating with a prospect “ This business will change your life (slight pause)… if you let it” I think that comes from Jim Rohn.
Best Hours to Call
Typically the best hours to call are between 6:30 and 9 their local time Monday through Thursday and Sundays after 6 pm when they are thinking about going to their JOB the next day.
Understanding Your Ideal Prospect
It is a good exercise to understand and write down what you are looking for in your ideal prospect. Know who they are, their personality types, what they look like, who do they socialize with and what they are looking for and desire in life.
When talking to your prospect have a note book and a calendar handy. Take notes and make sure that you set up a follow-up appointment and what you will be addressing. One really important thing to take note of, is your prospect’s “Why”. Why do they want to be in a home based business, what is driving them to look outside their regular job for answers to their problems. People need to know that you get them and when you are able to help them identify their “why” you will make a deeper connection with what is driving this person and in turn develop a closer relationship.
You have probably heard the phrase “always be closing”. Well if you have a follow up conversation with your prospect be prepared to close them. Once you have answered all their questions and fielded all their objections an easy phrase to use to get them to the close is “ So it sounds like you are ready to get started, do you wanta go ahead and do that?”
Just don’t dance around the close, be direct and control the conversation. If you go for the close and they are not sure, see if they have any further objections or question and address them or provide them further information if needed but make sure you ask them “is this the only thing that is preventing you from getting started right now?” Then when you address their question you will know that they are now truly ready to join you in business.
Here are some other tips when doing your MLM prospecting
that you can use in talking to prospect to qualify them and have them join you in your business.
- Controlling the conversations. The person asking the questions is always in control of the conversations. Ask direct and conversational questions.
- Come from a place of understanding.
- Tell stories that relate to the success of people in your business and getting over life’s challenges. You can always borrow a story from your upline or someone in your team if you don’t have one but this will help people relate to you and others who are looking to make a difference in their lives.
- Most importantly is don’t be attached to the outcome. There is always an unconscious communications going on between people and if a person senses you are desperate or needy they will probably sense that and not sign up with you. You want to come from a position of strength and you also want to limit the time you are on the emotional roller-coaster that being in your own business can sometime present. Yes there will be times when you are up and times when you are up and down in your MLM business. Understand this will help you stay focused and not get you down if someone decides not to join your business.
- We all will experience nervousness at times when prospecting and really the only way to get over the nervousness is to talk to more people.
- Be positive about what is happening in your business even if you are just starting. If you are experiencing success in your business share that with your prospect at the right time. If your company or team are experiencing success make sure you are sharing that with your prospect. Say something to the effect “Things are absolutely on fire with our team . We are experiencing phenomenal growth due to the fact that we are launching our new products/marketing efforts” and share the success that your team and company are experiencing. Don’t lie about this just share the truth. This way you are letting your prospect know that you are connected to the inner circle and you can also help them get connect to achieve success. The main goal, is to make sure the prospect likes you and trust you.
- Another thing to do when on the phone and talking to a prospect is to stand and move around if possible. Your energy is different when you are moving around. Remember that motion creates emotion and people will buy from you and make the decision to join your based on emotion and then they will justify it later with logic.
- Focus on the process of being a great communicator
- When talking to your prospect use word pictures and tell stories to build belief in your prospect.
Well these are just a few suggestion on prospecting for your MLM business just get out there and work it. The more people you talk to the more people you will sponsored in your MLM business.
