Your Emotional Success in Network Marketing

If you are going to be successful in this industry of network marketing you have to learn and know how to manage your emotions.  Although you may think that what you are doing in your position as an independent Network Marketing Rep is a sales position  it truly is not . What you are doing is interviewing people or sorting people for a position in your Multi-million dollar company.  Now although this is true and no doubt this should be your posture, the mind set and the attitude you will be faced with will be the same emotions that one does experience who is strictly in the sales industry.

You see sales and/or people in the network marketing industry are subjected to many more emotions than others in other occupations. The way we respond to the feedback we get from others will naturally create our emotions – Be it happy, sad, optimistic, etc.   The important thing to realize here is that the emotions that you experience WILL drive your behavior and to the degree that you handle your emotions will determine if you are successful or if you quit!  So as you learn and master your emotions you will become more and more successful.  One thing to remember about life,  – no matter what you take on in life it’s always about something bigger. Bigger than the opportunity, bigger than becoming financial free. It really about you growing as an individual. Remember this concept and step through these things that challenge you and you will find the true treasure that is within you.

Now these emotional ups and downs can be challenging. So how will you respond to what peoples say.  You need to understand that emotions are natural.  As we learn to understand and deal with these emotions, it will make the tasks that one needs to do  in order to find success in this industry, much easier to accomplish.  The two major areas that significantly impact your emotions are:

1. Your purpose for sharing your product or opportunity and

2. Your view of selling

Have you ever had these thoughts?

-   I need to make this sale or get this person involved or …(fill in the blank)

-    I hope I can convince them to buy or sign up with me

These types or statements are all about you., they are also not very empowering.  They are very ego driven and survival based. A better more powerful thought or attitude to have would be — “I ‘m not sure whether or not I can help them, but I owe it to them to see if I can help them”.  The purpose of your call or meeting with your prospect is to get to know them and understand their needs and goals better. You have no need to impress them — you just want too ask them a few questions and listen…(no big deal)

You should be confident that you can help them solve major problems in their lives.

If you are experiencing Call Anxiety then Change your view of Selling and/or Prospecting

Change your attitude from “I am doing something to them or wanting something from them to I am helping them to  better their situation and i am delivering value and service.

This will change the emotions around the activity and therefore change your behavior to be more willing to do this task (make the call) as opposed to procrastinating.

So what is your purpose behind the sales call or calling your prospect?

There will be no call reluctance when you believe that what you have may help them in whatever way they need. You are there to support them.

Here is an example of how your purpose for prospecting can create a negative emotion.

Example:  I need to make this sale, if I don’t how am I going to pay the mortgage? How am I going to make this  business work?  You see if you are focused on these thoughts and thinking about the negative consequences of what will happen to you, you will experience the emotion of FEAR!!!  Experiencing these negative emotions because of your thoughts will possibly lead to not making the calls and procrastinate all day long, or not being as effective when making the calls.

Your purpose is to create value for your prospect or potential customer!

Try on this purpose or position when making a call “I need to help those people who really need and want my help” or “I am on a mission. I’m not trying to talk anyone into doing anything.  I know that what I have to offer will make a positive impact in their lives”

You are looking to find people who are desperately needing what you have to offer and you are giving them the opportunity to participate in this opportunity to fulfill their need…not your need.  Try thinking these thoughts – Who has a need that I can fulfill?  Who can I create value for?  Who has a problem I can solve?

When you change your purpose your emotions will shift and therefore your behavior will also shift.   When you begin to handle your emotions and uncertainty and replace them with emotions that empower you, your posture will shift, you will be one hundred times more confidence and your prospect will unconsciously get this and want to work with you.  You will also be able to deal with a prospect rejecting or not ready to quite join your opportunity for you know that you had their best interest in mind.   Keep this mindset  and manage your emotion’s and you will find success in the Network Marketing Industry and also train other to be successful too.
